Following on from my "Hidden Monster" collection, I have recently been working on a follow up series of works, entitled "Stikman cometh!". "Hidden Monster" was all about terrible injury, surgery, wounds, learning to use my legs and trying to rebuild some sort of existence. This new series of works, deals with the follow on from that. Dealing with the experience of living with limited mobility, incidents that happen, trying to make sense of it all. The broken figure in isolation, trying to survive from day to day. This is my big personal project from 2020 onwards. It will consist of works in various media, and may branch into digital, photography, and three dimensions as well.
"Apologies for the inconvenience" mixed media, 2020.
"Know your place" acrylic and ink on paper, 2020.
"Keep your distance big D, I'm self isolating" Mixed media on wood panel.

Please do keep popping back to this page, as its very much a work in progress. As and when new, and interesting creations are made, they will be added to this ongoing body of work.

This work involves the use of transfer printing techniques. Sometimes, printing two or three times, roughing and distressing the surface and printing again. Oil is then added to form a glaze, with over writing in marker pen. Using this technique, means I get to use my other favourite image making technique - photography.
The figure at the bottom of the picture, is an adaptation of "stikman". This is a new character called "MiStik". I use his persona for work inspired from street or urban art. He represents the outward looking side, the angered reactionary, the "what the hell" anarchic side of existence.

"Thrash out that pain" 2020. This is a work about being in terrible pain, and trying to do anything to take the mind off it. I've found myself in this position, and also rolling on the floor in agony, whilst listening to extremely aggressive music to take my mind off it, on more than one or two occasions, until pain relief arrived.
